Posted by: Laurie McBurney on Thursday, March 19, 2009
After the tremendous success of the inaugural Nocturne: Art at Night, held in October of 2008 throughout the Halifax area, volunteer organizers are pleased to announce the date for 2009.
“On October 17, 2009, Halifax will once again be illuminated for one special night with art installations in public spaces, exhibitions in participating galleries throughout the city and unique performances,” says Laura Carmichael, Chair of Nocturne.
Nocturne 2009 promises to build on the successful 2008 event, which saw thousands of people experiencing art on both sides of the Halifax harbour with the 23 participating galleries and 26 special projects.
Nocturne: Art at Night is a completely volunteer-driven initiative. As such, there are many opportunities for volunteers to participate on the night of the event, serve on the various planning committees or contribute through advertising, space donation or financial sponsorship. Information will be regularly updated on the Nocturne website, www.nocturnehalifax.ca .
